Mark your calendars for June 5, 2026, from 5–8 PM and be part of the creativity during First Fridays Downtown Youngstown!
 
The event is planned on and around N. Phelps Street and West Commerce. However, if inclement weather prevents us from using our outdoor space the event will be moved indoors to Penguin City.
 

Enjoy an evening filled with:
Live music, Local vendors, A vibrant Chalk Art Contest, and a Community Chalk Art Area – perfect for anyone who wants to get creative without competing!

First Fridays Stage: Eric Alleman

Eric Alleman is a writer, poet, playwright, performer and visual artist from the Connecticut Western Reserve. You can see his visual art on Instagram and writing on Substack.

June 5th Alleman will be sharing the First Fridays Stage with us and volunteering as one of our Chalk the Walk judges!

DeAudra Edgerson

DeAudra is a visual artist from Warren, Ohio. She enjoys artistic expression in many forms. She enjoys; sewing, designing and home decor. Her original passions were in sketching and painting. Her work was previously on display at the McDonough Museum of Art and Trumbull Art Gallery. She holds a MBA, and a BS in Fashion Merchandising from Youngstown State University. She is currently the Public Program Director at SMARTS and oversees afterschool programming. DeAudra will be volunteering as one of our Chalk the Walk Judges during our June 5th Event!

Lisa Frederick

Lisa has dedicated more than thirty-eight years to Art Education and holds a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Youngstown State University. A lifelong, multidisciplinary artist, she has focused primarily on photography in recent years, particularly since retiring from public education. Her work has been exhibited in juried art and photography exhibitions at the regional, national, and international levels.

Beyond her studio practice, Lisa remains actively engaged in artistic, cultural, educational, and philanthropic initiatives. She is affiliated with the Butler Institute of American Art, contributing to its Education Department and teaching adult photography classes, and serves as a part-time supervisor for Art Education student teachers at Youngstown State University. Lisa will volunteer as one of our Chalk the Walk Judges on June 5th.
